FirstIdea was founded in 1989.  Since then, we have been specializing in the recruitment and selection of Police and Fire personnel including written tests and, most notably, assessment centers. In addition, we help other public sector and private organizations hire the best personnel.  FirstIdea is noted for its innovative techniques in incorporating an organization’s mission, values, goals, and philosophy into its selection and promotional systems. 

We have over 60 years of combined testing experience with Fire, Police, public sector and private organizations across the nation.  Every one of our consultants holds a Master’s and/or Doctorate degrees in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. Unlike other consulting firms who hand you off to “account executives” or other people who are inadequately trained and educated, at FirstIdea, our clients work with the same team of consultants from the beginning to the end of the project.     

We are also proud to announce that we have received national certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise by Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).  WBENC’s national standard of certification implemented by the Women’s Business Development Center is a meticulous process including an in-depth review of the business and site inspection. The certification process is designed to confirm the business is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by a woman or women.  By including women-owned businesses among their vendors, corporations, and government agencies demonstrate their commitment to fostering diversity.
