Treatment Advocacy Center Survey

Posted: July 25, 2018

Dear Chiefs,

As a state police chiefs association with a committee dedicated to addressing the needs of individuals with serious mental illness, we need your help.
Police officers are often required to transport individuals in mental health crisis to appropriate services, such as emergency rooms, crisis centers or inpatient facilities.
In order to address these issues, we need your cooperation for input to help better understand the role of law enforcement in transport for individuals with mental illness and the impacts of these responsibilities on police time and money.
Please take this survey.
The purpose of this survey is to collect national-level data from police departments and sheriffs’ offices throughout the country. The responses will be analyzed and reported out in aggregate. Recommendations for policy makers will be compiled into a joint report published by the New York State Association of Chiefs of Police, National Sheriffs’ Association, and the Treatment Advocacy Center. The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete once relevant data is collected.

Sincerely,
Chief Michael Lefancheck
Baldwinsville Police Department
President of New York State Association of Chiefs of Police
