Training Classes Offered by Criminal Justice Institute’s National Center for Rural Law Enforcement

The Criminal Justice Institute’s National Center for Rural Law Enforcement is offering three online sexual assault investigation courses to certified law enforcement officers and deputies representing rural communities. These online courses are supported by an Office on Violence Against Women’s grant and are available at no-cost.

Prepare yourself with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively investigate these cases using a victim-centered response.

 

FOUNDATIONS OF SEXUAL ASSAULT INVESTIGATION FOR THE RURAL OFFICER ONLINE (10 HOURS)

This course provides rural law enforcement executives and investigators with the knowledge, skills, and resources for establishing a victim-centered response as part of an effective investigation. Target Audience: Rural Law Enforcement Officers, Investigators, Chiefs, Sheriffs, and Command Staff.

SEXUAL ASSAULT INVESTIGATION FOR THE RURAL EXECUTIVE ONLINE (8 HOURS)

Rural law enforcement executives have the opportunity to have a significant influence on those they supervise and on their community’s attitude toward sexual assault. They are responsible for creating and maintaining an environment that supports a victim-centered response to sexual assault. This course will enhance the capability of rural law enforcement personnel to manage and investigate sexual assault cases in their community. Obstacles, resources and benefits to the department will also be explored. Target Audience: Rural Law Enforcement Chiefs, Sheriffs, and Command Staff.

NOTE: A prerequisite for this course is Foundations of Sexual Assault Investigation for the Rural Officer Online.

SEXUAL ASSAULT INVESTIGATION FOR THE RURAL INVESTIGATOR ONLINE (13 HOURS)

The response to, and investigation of, sexual assault crimes requires a victim-centered approach as part of an effective investigation. This course is designed to enable rural officers to better understand the impact of sexual assault upon victims as well as apprehend the offender. Target Audience: Rural Law Enforcement Officers and Investigators.

NOTE: A prerequisite for this course is Foundations of Sexual Assault Investigation for the Rural Officer Online.

Registration for these programs is available online here. Upon completion, officers will receive a certificate of completion. In addition, CJI staff can assist law enforcement agencies in obtaining credit from their state accrediting agency.
