Reducing Barriers to Accreditation

Accreditation is a proven method to help agencies operate more professionally, justify their operations, and promote trust in their community. CACP/CSOC have developed the Colorado Law Enforcement Professional Standards Program to provide agencies a cost-effective alternative to international accreditation. Now is the time to consider how pursuing accreditation may benefit your agency in the long run.

In Colorado, accreditation is still a voluntary process but that is no longer the case in Connecticut, Oregon, Nebraska, and Florida due to the passage of state level police reform bills. While accreditation will not stop the desire to legislate law enforcement, it does create opportunities to flip the narrative. In Arizona, the Buckeye Police Department have used their accreditation journey to improve their image with the community. As a former accreditation manager in Florida, I experienced these benefits first hand myself.

We are excited to announce that PowerDMS is now partnered with CACP/CSOC to provide you a faster and easier way to complete your self-assessment. The PowerDMS accreditation tool cuts the time it takes to prepare for an onsite by 50% or more; making the process far more achievable than the paper way.
