Please Join MADD's Enforcement Effort to Honor Victims and Survivors

Posted: August 15, 2019

On August 24, 2019, MADD will launch a nationwide “Saturation Saturday,” an opportunity to organize and join law enforcement departments across the country to publicize their “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” summer campaigns.

Here in Colorado, we are asking for law enforcement's help in removing impaired drivers from our roadways in a coordinated effort on August 24. The goal is to involve as many agencies as possible, on one Saturday night, to encourage safe driving and high-visibility law enforcement through one of the most heavily traveled weekends of the year.

During this day, we’re inviting every agency in the state to designate one car to patrol for impaired drivers in honor of victims and survivors of drunk and drugged driving. We know that many of you already have DUI patrols on these days and we are not asking for additional patrols. We are asking for one of your patrol cars to wear the "red ribbon" for support of MADD while doing their patrolling activities on Saturday, August 24.

Here's how your agency can participate:

  1. Please email [email protected] to let MADD know you will be joining the campaign.
  2. MADD will mail you a red ribbon magnet. Please designate one car to patrol for impaired drivers in honor of victims and survivors and display the magnet on your designated car.
  3. Help spread the word about this event on social media by taking a photo of your patrol car and officers with the red ribbon and using the hashtags #SaturationSaturday and #NoMoreVictims. Please feel free to add your own message about impaired driving prevention too!
  4. Please email your arrest total for the one-day period (12pm on Saturday 8/24 to 12pm on Sunday 8/25) to [email protected] by the end of the day on Sunday, 8/25.

We’re grateful to you and your officers for considering participating in this event. Please stay safe and thank you for all you do for our communities across Colorado!
